Our Europe team, based in London, supports the foundation’s policy, advocacy, and communications activities in Europe. The team works with grantees and partners, builds and sustains European donor support, and fosters political commitment in Europe to advance global health and development goals.

Leadership

Anja Langenbucher
Director, Europe

Anja Langenbucher leads a team that builds strategic relationships with partners across Europe, including governments, nongovernmental institutions, and the media. Before joining the foundation in 2011, Anja worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in a range of roles, including as leader of the technical assistance program and leader of debt and equity transactions in the agribusiness team. Previously, Anja worked at the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington, D.C., and for the European Commission in Brussels.

Anja is from Germany and has a master’s degree and a Ph.D., both in economics, from Heidelberg University. She did post-graduate work at SciencesPo in Paris and began her career at the Boston Consulting Group in Munich.
